My guide for everything extensions

Hi girls

If you know me you would say i'm obsessed with hair extensions wearing them, selling and looking for new companies to source from. My clients would even say I"m the crazy extension lady because it's never enough hair. When you first get your hair extensions it can be exciting and new and sometimes we talk to much to go over the proper home care. Well this will fill in the gaps for all the question that were missed and a good information holder that you can come back to.

Let me start by saying Hair extensions are an investment, and proper care is the key to keeping them looking flawless, silky, and long-lasting. Whether you wear wefts, bonds, or other extension methods, following a consistent routine will protect both your natural hair and extensions.Below is your complete guide to brushing, washing, drying, styling, and maintaining your extensions the right way.

Proper brushing is one of the most important steps in extension care.

  • Brush your hair daily to remove knots and tangles.

  • Always brush before your hair gets wet to prevent matting.

  • Start brushing from the ends and gently work your way up toward the scalp.

  • Be careful around the bonds or wefts to avoid pulling or damage.

  • Use a loop brush or extension-safe brush for best results.

Washing extensions correctly helps maintain their softness and prevents buildup.

  • Separate your hair between the wefts or bonds before washing.

  • Use a sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo only.

  • Begin at the top of the head and gently massage shampoo downward toward the nape.

  • Avoid circular scrubbing or flipping your head upside down to prevent tangling.

  • Rinse thoroughly, section by section if needed.

  • Shampoo 2–3 times for a clean, refreshed finish.

  • Always follow with a hydrating conditioner.

  • Use leave-in conditioner, heat protectant, and lightweight oils from mid-shaft to ends only.

  • Rinse completely to avoid itchiness or buildup.

Proper drying helps prevent tangling and damage.

  • Towel dry or air dry as much as possible before using heat tools.

  • Use a heat protectant before blow drying.

  • Starting at the ends, use a round brush and work your way up toward the scalp.

  • Be gentle and avoid pulling at the bonds or attachment points.

You can style your extensions just like natural hair—but with care.

  • Extensions are human hair and can be styled with hot tools.

  • Keep styling tools below 375°F to avoid damage.

  • Avoid applying heat directly to the bonds or attachment areas.

  • Use professional-grade products recommended by your stylist.

  • Avoid applying heavy oils or conditioners at the base of the extensions.

Protect your extensions before and after swimming.

  • Wet your hair with clean tap water before entering a pool or ocean.

  • Apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner.

  • Wear your hair in a braid or ponytail to reduce tangling.

  • After swimming, rinse thoroughly with fresh water.

  • Apply leave-in conditioner and gently detangle.

How you sleep matters just as much as how you style.

  • Always brush your hair gently before bed.

  • Loosely braid your hair or put it in a low ponytail.

  • Never go to bed with wet hair, as it can cause matting near the scalp.

  • If tangling or matting occurs, contact your stylist immediately.

Always remember

  • Do NOT attempt to color your extensions at home.

  • Always consult your stylist for any coloring or toning services.

Sunscreen can be your extensions worst nightmare

  • Avoid chemical-based sunscreens, as they may discolor extensions.

  • Always choose mineral-based sunscreen when wearing extensions.

Your extensions will only look as good as the care you give them. Consistency is key—gentle handling, the right products, and proper maintenance will keep your hair looking fresh, soft, and beautiful for weeks.

I know that was a lot of information but all these points are key to keep in mind to keep your investment in its best condition. As always if theirs any products or questions you have you can email me. I always wanna know what you are interest more so if I have information on it.
